Swift.

Okay hold up. Let's rewind a few months back. (This post is going to be super duper long. And the title should be obvious what this is about.)

17 December 2010.
Today, I found out MTV Asia is doing this contest where the winners will get a pair of tickets to Taylor Swift concert live in Singapore, meet & greet passes, with the flight and accommodation included. All you need to do is submit a video/picture/text saying how much you love/can relate to Taylor Swift, and then MTV will approve it, and it will be opened to the public to vote.(But seriously, nobody will go to the MTV website to vote for their favorites. The votes will only come from your friends and family.) The person with the highest number of votes from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Hong Kong will win it. Yes that means there's only ONE winner from Malaysia.

So I did not submit anything straight away because the closing date is on 16 January 2011. I thought all of the submissions will be compiled and then on the 16th, it will be open for voting. Wrong.

1 January 2011.
I decided to check the website again and imagine my surprise when there were already entries open to be voted. The highest vote from Malaysia at this point was already 1500+ votes. My heart just sank. How can I catch up? I wasted no time and submitted my text entry to MTV(it was basically the same like the speech I did last year in my public speaking class if you remember, I just edit a few things). BUT, it was on a Saturday. I know I have to wait till Monday for it to be approved.

2 - 4 January 2011.
I decided to stalk some people who're already in the competition and asked how long did it take for MTV to approve their submission. Some 8 hours, some 2 days. Some didn't even get approved! At this point I was beyond paranoid. I couldn't sleep. I took these pills for flu because it'll cause drowsiness and then only I can sleep. I didn't have flu at all but I took it anyway because otherwise I won't be able to sleep! Luckily college hasn't started yet.

5 January 2011.
I already feel like giving up. Then of course, whenever I feel down, I'd read. (Decided to make another post about this later). So anyway, JUST when I already feel like giving up, that evening, I checked the website and my entry was approved and available to be voted. I felt like I just witnessed a miracle(cheeeeesyyy, but true!)
Now all I need to do is catch up with the votes. Me = 0. Her = 1600+.

6 - 15 January 2011.
It wasn't easy, at all. BUT I do have one advantage. I know her twitter.(Damn I'd make a good stalker investigator hahah) And her twitter isn't like mine where it's @mynamehere, but something like those fangirls' twitter that have some teen star's name. And it wasn't even Taylor Swift. Not @anisswift or @trueswifty or something like that. She's a Miley Cyrus fan. And she has way more followers than I do(the fangirl world is huge, consists mostly Beliebers). So anyway, I know her twitter and found out, she's in form 4 which means she'll go to school(uh duh). And I have no class on Wednesday and Friday. And THAT'S when I try to catch up with the votes. How? I ask people on Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. I have 2 or 3 friends on tumblr who has A LOT OF FOLLOWERS and ask them to ask their followers to vote. And also on twitter, I made a separate account and tweet a lot of people haha. And Facebook, I ask some of my friends who has almost 1000 friends to ask their friends to vote for me. The last few days before 16 January(Sunday) were the craziest.

At that time I already manage to lead the votes by about 500(you might think that's a lot, but she can catch up in just a few hours) and as long as she's online, I won't turn off my computer. I only slept like 4 hours on Friday night and NONE AT ALL on Saturday night. Yes I'm still awake at 6am.

You know what's my biggest motivation? Of course meeting Taylor Swift and everything, but I just don't want her to win out of all people. She's just one of those 'fangirl' who likes Taylor Swift for her popular songs, not a true fan since her first album. And in her text entry she said something like wanting to touch Taylor's hair. OKAY WTF.

16 January 2011
It's the last day. I'm still leading but she still hasn't given up. And if you saw my tweet/Facebook status 'I need you hopeless'(taken from Jennifer's Body haha), that's for her. I want her to feel how hopeless I felt when she's already leading the votes and I started 2 weeks later than her with zero.(She started like on 22 December)
On the rules and regulations, it said the votes will be closed at 16 January 2011, 11.59pm. But guess what? It's still open for voting at 1am+. And she still hasn't given up! At this point I'm already leading by about 800 votes. I think she decided to go to sleep at about 2am and that's when I go to sleep too.

17 January 2011
I woke up and saw I'm leading the votes by 1000+. Phew. And it's on Monday which means she has to go to school and there's no way she can catch up. I called MTV at about 12pm wanting to ask why the voting is still on but nobody picked up. I double checked and the voting has been closed! Final votes? Me = 9180. Her = 8154. 9180 votes, that means 765 votes PER DAY FROM 5January - 16January.

17 January - 21 January 2011
At this point there's nothing else I can do but wait. Although it's pretty much confirmed that I'm the winner, I just want it to be official that I won before I celebrate anything. And then on 21 January, Friday, I received a phone call that changes everything(cheeeeesy, but not exaggerating either)

MTV : Hi is this Anis Filza?
Me : Yes... (omg omg omg)
MTV : Hi my name is *** and I just want to congratulate you for the Taylor Swift contest, you're the winner from Malaysia --
Me : Oh my God!!! Aaah! ---
MTV : Okay okay before you start screaming, how old are you?
Me : 18.
MTV : Okay great! Who are you planning to bring along to the concert?
Me : My sister.
MTV : How old is your sister?
Me : 20? 21?
MTV : Girl how can you not know how old is your sister? *laughs*
Me : I'm not sure! She's turning 21 this March hahahah
MTV : Okay great then we will email you the details and everything regarding the contest. Just to make sure your email is [my email here]
Me : Yes yes correct.
MTV : Great we will email you everything then.
Me : Okay oh my God THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
MTV : You're welcome! Congratulations again!


Okay that's not the exact conversation, but it was pretty close to what I remember. And then after that phone call ended I JUMPED AROUND THE HOUSE AND DO ALL THESE SILLY STUPID DANCES THAT I AM SURE WILL HIT A MILLION VIEWS ON YOUTUBE WITH THE TITLE 'GIRL DOING THE SILLIEST DANCE IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD' AND EVERYBODY WILL LAUGH THEIR ASS OFF WATCHING IT. It was just aaaahhh!!! HAPPINESS :)

I love how in the email she wrote :


"Hi Anis,

Congratulations! You have won the MTV Taylor Swift Contest!!!!*SCREAM*"


HAHAHAHA the *SCREAM* part was so cute! And then she asked for my details and my sisters blah blah blah.

So yeah. That's pretty much it. The concert will be on 9th of February, Singapore Indoor Stadium(which I went to last year with zero hope of going to her concert and look where I am now!)

Okay I don't know how to walk the line between sharing this good news, sharing my happiness, and showing off. Because I'm not showing off. I'm not bragging that I win. It's something that I've always wanted and I think everybody deserves that 'dream comes true' moment and when that happens, you will want blog/tweet/update your Facebook status about it! Muhahah. Speaking of which, I updated my Facebook status with 'GUESS WHO'S GOING TO SEE TAYLOR SWIFT LIVE IN SINGAPORE NEXT MONTH?! :D OH YEAH THAT'S RIGHT.' and so far that got 23 likes! I used to rack my brain trying to think of something witty to put as my status and got only 3 likes -,- But I'm sure those 23 people are happy for me and I'm glad about that! :)

YES.
I didn't buy all of her cds right after it comes out, I didn't give a speech in front of the whole class about how she influences my life, I don't know the lyrics to her songs, I didn't spend hundreds of ringgits on her merchandises, I didn't cry when I found out she's not coming to Malaysia, her songs are not on top 10 most played songs on my iTunes omg no. I'm not her fan at all! OMG!!!!!

Is there any form I need to fill in, tasks to complete to 'declare' I'm a fan of hers? NO? OKAY. And fyi, that girl who said I'm not even a fan of Taylor? She's not even following Taylor Swift on twitter. And THAT makes her a bigger fan than I am? Ummmmm, okay. I don't need to prove to a stranger that I deserve that prize more than her. I know my parents, siblings and closest friends know how much I love her and that's all that matters.
