From what I've seen, the world of teenage 'fan girls' are divided into two; Harry Potter and Twilight. It's like if you love Harry Potter, you will HATE Twilight. And vice versa.
I've seen a lot of people make fun of Twilight. (By Twilight I mean the whole saga, not just the first book/movie). I don't get defensive about it but laugh along.
For example;
Twilight + Harry Potter + Mean Girls quote = WIN.
I just don't get the hate. If you hate Twilight so much, can't you just shut up?
There are reasons why it's HUGE today. After Twilight, there are so many vampire books published I've lost count. Every publishers probably have at least one vampire book.
In fact, the 'Teen Readers' or 'Young Adult' section in bookstores should be replaced with 'Vampire Books'. Seriously. Authors who made lots of money from writing vampire books have Stephenie Meyer to thank. As a frequent bookstore visitor, I didn't notice that many vampire books before Twilight.
The tv series Vampire Diaries, True Blood probably won't even debut on tv if it's not for Twilight. (I THINK, I might be wrong.)
Many people probably don't know this, but obsessing over something is actually exhausting. You buy all the books, you watch all the movies, you buy every magazine even the article about it is just half a page. And when another saga or series comes out, you don't have the energy anymore. Too lazy to care.
I think maybe that's why there are not that many people a hardcore fan of BOTH Twilight AND Harry Potter. I read one article once, the writer said she wants to love Twilight, she really do but she's exhausted from all those years she was an obsessed Harry Potter fan.
So, it's either;
1) I love Harry Potter, and I hate Twilight.
2) I love Harry Potter, I like Twilight just so-so.
3) I love Twilight, and I hate Harry Potter.
4) I love Twilight, and I like Harry Potter just so-so.
For now, I'm in the 4th category. I just bought this Harry Potter box set,
and who knows, I might switch side. :P
Isn't the box set so pwretty? :3 I've been looking for it for ages! I wish I could see my face when I saw the box set on the shelf. It was probably the same expression when Charlie found the golden ticket in his Wonka bar :')
I bought it at the same bookstore(MPH) I bought the Twilight box set(when it was still new and hard to find).
I went to Borders first, and asked the staff if there's a Harry Potter box set. Her reply : Harry Potter as in H-A-R-R-Y right?
I CAN'T EVEN,.
Why, do you have Hairy Potter or something else? -_-
ps; I don't know why I post this. I'm not even as obsessed with Twilight as I once was. HAHAHA. BUT I'm still a huge fan!
