it's not goodbye, it's time to fly.
it's that time of the year.
When you go to shopping malls, all you see is 'Back To School' signs.
You see long queues at Jusco, Tesco, Mydin, Parkson.
Parents are buying school uniforms for their children.
Little girls pouting when they can't have the pink, glittery, girly pencil box.
You see "i-can't-wait-for-school-next-year" faces.
You also can see "i-can't-wait-for-school-to-be-over" faces.
it's that time of the year.
The night before the first day of school.
When I was in primary school, I used to call up my friends.
'Let's sit together!'
Then hoping to dear god the teacher won't change our positions.
Because nobody wants to sit beside someone they don't like.
Or worse, sitting alone.
it's the first day of school.
New uniforms, new shoes, new stationery.
New friends, sometimes.
But as you get older,
Urgh last year's uniforms, last year's shoes.
New friends, sometimes.
But most of the time, 'Your face again??'
That always made me smile.
'This year, I'm going to finish all of my homework and STUDY!'
but nah, that didn't happen.
and then, it's the time of the day.
Recess.
Everyone's favorite period.
The canteen food sucks.
That's undeniable.
But that doesn't matter because all you want to do
Is EAT. and talk with your friends.
Not that we keep quiet in class anyway.
Later, the sound EVERYBODY wants to hear
EVERYBODY anticipated for
The last bell ring of the day.
WOOHOO we can go back home and sleep!
And EAT.
it's Sunday night.
aaaahhh tomorrow is a school day?
Really?
The holidays are over?
Really?
I want to sleeeeep.
Years passed by
C'mon, who doesn't, at some point say,
I HATE SCHOOL.
I wish I can finish school right now and just be over it!
We all have said that before.
it's a love-hate relationship with school.
you love that you get to see your friends at school.
you love that you'd talk about last night's episode of American Idol, or The Amazing Race with your friends.
you love laughing in class with your classmates.
you love it when you didn't finish yesterday's homework, you feel relieved because the rest or most of your classmates didn't do it too. at least i'm not the only one who'll get punished.
you love recess time even though the canteen food sucks.
you love that last bell ring, you can go home and doze off.
you love doing experiments in the lab because it's always fun when someone messes up.
you love school holidays.
but
you hate getting up early in the morning.
you hate school uniforms. it's hot and uncomfortable.
you hate homework and folios.
you hate when the teacher asked you to present something in front of the class because you'd be nervous and stutter.
you hate exams. with passion.
you hate morning assemblies because it's boring and nobody cares what the teachers said anyway.
you hate that feeling after a long holiday, tomorrow you have to go to school.
It's that time of the year ; school.
and I'm no longer a part of it.
I've graduated.
No more school, no more school uniforms, no more homework. No more hanging out with Alin, Abu, Mus long after recess. No more laughing at An Hao's and Sonel's jokes. No more Dr. Saro's accent or MCR giving us The LOOK ;)
part of me is glad, some part of me just wish i could go through it all once again.
because sure, school has finished. it's over.
but saying goodbye is always hard.
NEXT UP : COLLEGE.
"Sometimes when you're young, you think nothing can hurt you, like you're invincible. You've got your whole life ahead of you. You've got big plans. Find your perfect match, the one who completes you. But as you get older, you realize it's not always that easy. It's not until the end of your life that you realize, the plans you made were only plans. Because at the end when you're looking back instead of forward, you want to believe that you made the most of what life gave you. You want to believe that you're leaving something good behind. You want it all to have mattered."
