New York! [part 2/5] ; Empire State Building + Central Park

New York Day Two.

After getting some much-needed rest, Abu and I are ready for a brand new day!
SO relieved free breakfast was provided. The food was pretty good! Small cafeteria, but cute and cozy. Luckily we went down at around 7 a.m. and I guess most people were still fast asleep.

Funny story time.
Gah I'm such a klutz. I don't remember which day, but.. I managed to almost set the hotel on fire. Sort of. Anyway, I didn't read the sign above, in black, that the toaster is only for bread, as in the single loaf. But I was talking to Abu at the time and mindlessly put in the croissant. And of course, the croissant is 'thicker' than a normal loaf of bread so the croissant was twisting around, ON FIRE, in the toaster.

Oh my God I panicked!! I was thinking of walking away and you know buat tak tahu jer but WHAT IF the fire gets bigger or something!! And so Abu told the worker there about it and she managed to get the (burnt, black) croissant out. There were a little smokes coming out and I PANICKED AGAIN thinking the smoke detector will pick it up and rain the whole building and everybody has to be evacuated. Oh God.

But, luckily, nobody was hurt, and also not that many people at the cafeteria at the time and they were unaware of the whole thing. PHEW. Also one of the hotel staff was there and he was really cute ehehehehoho

Belgian waffle machine. This thing was SO COOL and I came to the conclusion that people just use this thing to MAKE the waffle because it was awesome, not because they really want to eat the waffle. But still, it taste pretty good!

The coffee section. The coffee was DELICIOUS. SO, SO GOOD. So many variety and free 24/7 too! Because of the cold weather that's just, heavenly.

View of the cafeteria from outside.

After we've filled up our stomachs, off to Empire State Building!
We relied heavily on Google Map on my iPod, and Google states it'll only take 7 minutes to reach there. The roads in NYC are pretty easy to navigate through, I mean everything's parallel and blocks after blocks after blocks of building. Plus Empire State Building is one of the tallest building in the world, should be easy to find.

That coffee acts as a hand warmer to be honest hahaha.

I'll just put one picture of Abu here so that people won't think I went to NY alone lolol

There were people in blue jacket in front of the entrance selling entrance tickets. We bought ticket to the Observation Deck and the NY Skyride. Total was about, $55? I think. The NY Skyride was a huge waste of money to be honest. But I'm a sucker for once in a lifetime stuff.. so. Oh well.

The souvenir shop before entering the NY Skyride.

NY Skyride was basically like, being in a helicopter simulation. All wobbly like being in a real helicopter. It was narrated by Kevin Bacon, telling that's the Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge etc etc. Pretty cool having a bird's eye view of NY.. but meh can do without.

Look at how cute my Christmas-y top is c: HAHAHA. Probably too early to be festive, but oh well.

Up, up and away to 86th floor! Now that's TALL. Also, I've read on SO MANY websites that the queue to ride the elevator is going to be really long yadda yadda yadda. But surprisingly it was very quick for us! Didn't think we waited for more than 5 minutes.

No picture I post here can do the real view justice. You just HAVE to be there. It was absolutely breathtaking. But it was also really really really cold!! The temperature was low, but then comes THE WIND. Man I was totally freezing out there! So most of these pictures are from Abu's camera, since my hands were literally too numb to take my camera out.

It also got very cold that we can see the fog coming out of our mouths! So jakun man.

So obviously you can't see it here but I took a video of it! HAHAHA. Maybe I'll try to post it later. By later I mean probably never.

"NEW YORK I LOVE YOUUUUU I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE, EVERRRRR"

So many taxis!

This, I believe, is the Rockefeller Center. We went there at night, on.. Day 3.

Don't know if you can see it, but the middle one is the Liberty Island! Which, sadly, we didn't go :( Not enough time! Aaahh still a little bit sad yo.

There were a lot more pictures but it'd take too much space and I already uploaded a lot on my Facebook! :) So you can check the rest there teehee.

Thinking of putting this as my blog barner.. Y/N? :p

On the way out. I LOVE THIS PICTURE!

Made this penny myself! They had this machine where you insert 2 coins then you spin the handle then the machine will 'squish' the coins together and stamped whatever design you chose! Er, yeah.

Stopped by the souvenir shop. Bought just a bookmark for me, since 99.9% of the stuff is stamped with Made in China. This one is Made in USA hahah.

The store was pretty big, though I didn't take a picture of it -.-

Waiting for the lift to go down.

Gigantic Christmas tree!

So then we head back to the hotel because it was about 12 p.m. and my dad and brother's flights landed about 7 a.m.
We weren't going to pick them up from the airport, but just to enter the hotel rooms and stuff.
Communication was a little bit tough! Couldn't use my phone and only rely on WiFi here and there to send emails to my dad. So we weren't sure whether they've reached or not.

The roads in front of Macy's were closed because they used it to prepare stuff for Macy's Thanksgiving Parade!

We reached the hotel and waited in the lobby for a while, only to find out my dad and brother are already in our hotel rooms!
So all of us rested for a while and yep my dad brought Abu's concert ticket.

We decided to go to Central Park because based on the weather forecast, it's going to rain tomorrow so we can go visit the 'indoor' stuff (like Madame Tussauds) tomorrow because then we won't have time to go to outdoor places.

We took the Subway to go there. So it was my dad and brother's first time! Me and Abu were pros already mwahahah.

We stopped by at this station, turns out just under the museum.

We already set our eyes on Central Park only, and we didn't have much time to go to the museum (concert is that evening!) and I'm not much for museums, to be honest. So we passed. There were school kids on a trip! So cool.

Central Park!

So technically we only went to the west side of Central Park, which was still SO. BREATHTAKINGLY. BEAUTIFUL.
But we didn't go to the center of Central Park where a lot of movies were filmed (including Enchanted!) since it's SO far to walk.
It's pretty cold too but still manageable. Let's feast our eyes with some beautiful pictures!

My dad had to go And then we saw some swings.

LOL Abu was already on the swings and me of course being a little bit OCD had to wipe it because it was wet!

And just like that, we were kids again :')

Squirrels!

We basically did a little circle around and turn back to where we came from. Stumbled upon this theater while walking out.

But then my dad had to stop for a while to use the bathroom.

And I didn't see/know it was there. So.. pretty!

So that basically it. Then we went back to the hotel (me and Abu), I think my dad and brother went someplace else, Macy's if I'm not mistaken. I remember being SO SLEEPY but couldn't sleep :(

Part 3 is going to be the much-anticipated one, Taylor Swift concert!! HEHEH.
